PRINCIPAL ROLES and RESPONSIBILITIES Ensure that all work activities of direct and indirect reports are performed with attention to the highest standards of food quality, safe processes, compliance with all appropriate legal requirements and a focus on continuous process improvement Determines the necessary Manpower needed in the Distribution Department according to volume levels Aid and assist garage operations as needed with fleet management having dotted line responsibility to the logistics manager Be solely responsible to optimize the their bakery in the HB's network maintaining a best service, on time operation Improve and/or maintain positive union relationships Maintain a safe working environment Manage both transportation and distribution at their designated location reducing cost and improving service to their customer(s) Tracks Manpower and develops programs to insure labor is flexing to volume levels Determines the Transportation Schedules for all runs to Depots and Sister Plants Identifies the opportunities for capturing Transportation synergies between Depots and Sister Plants Monitors Drivers Logs on a daily basis to insure that the Drivers are in compliance according to DOT regulations Identifies the Unaccounted For issues between Production, Distribution, Retail and Sales Implements Tracking of Unaccounted For between Production, Distribution, Retail and Sales Coordinates meetings between Production, Distribution, Retail and Sales, to identify and correct the Unaccounted For issues Implements tracking of Material Handling Equipment (MHE) from Plant to Depot and Plant-to-Plant Make sourcing recommendations to reduce empty capacity and improve cube utilization Transportation initiatives and decision making activities Responsible for implementing and tracking Safety programs with the Distribution and Transportation departments Directs and guides employees on Good Manufacturing Programs (GMP) Responsible for communicating with Labor and Legal with Union negotiations Responsible for understanding and following the contracts that were determined and agreed upon between the company and the local unions Work with other logistics managers to meet overall company objectives, as well as, improve the Hostess Brands network where they impact it Participate in the bakery and local Market Unit management structures to support Hostess Brands initiatives
